Large Foodbank Donation

The Park Community School launched a reverse advent calendar to raise awareness and gain donations for Northern Devon Foodbank. Teachers presented facts and information to students to explain how Foodbank helps the local community. Then each day of December two students from every tutor group donated much needed items of food.

Paralympic Athlete visits Park

David Hill who competed in the Paratriathalon in the Rio Paralympic Games spent the day at our school on Monday 12th December.

Students took part in several Paralympic sports including goalball and boccia with David as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport Project.

David linked his sporting success to the ‘6 Keys to Success’ and asked students to think about these and apply to themselves.

Rising Stars Programme

Rising Stars kicked off its programme for our KS3 Gifted & Talented PE students. The programme looks at different aspects of fitness in detail, with the first session focusing on Core Stability/Strength. Throughout this series of sessions we look at how each individual sports can benefit from a variety of training methods, and in turn give them the opportunity to perform at a higher level. A team North Devon U14 Netball Champions!

Our A team have been crowned North Devon U14 Netball Champions!

On Wednesday 2nd November, Park Community School competed in the North Devon U14’s Netball Tournament. Both our A and B team were outstanding and won their respective competitions. The A team defeated 5 schools in their pool before going on to beat Bideford in the semi-final and then Pilton 20-6 in the final!

South West BMX Champion

Congratulations to Year 10 student Harrison Pascoe-White who last weekend won the South West BMX Racing Championships in the 14 year old category. Harrison races nationally and shows great dedication to the sport.  Over the years he has struggled with some nasty injuries, but his resilience has not deterred him from continuing in an olympic sport he loves.  Harrison put in a great deal of training for the Championship, which resulted in him racing amazingly on the day, with a sensational...

North Devon U16 Champions For 3rd Year!

On Tuesday 4th October, Park Community School competed against Ilfracombe School in the North Devon U16’s Football final.  After going 2 - 1 down Samir Kanj scored a spectacular 25 yard effort to take the game into extra time, Ilfracombe then forged into a 3-2 lead, but the boys battled on bravely and Owen Cox scored the equaliser with a fine solo run and with two minutes left on the clock James Andrews scored the winning goal.

Congratulations To Our Talented School Choir

We are thrilled to annouce that on Thursday 6th October the school choir competed in the finals of the LaLa Choirs Devon School Choir Competition in Exeter. Competing against Devonport High School for Girls and Teignmouth Community School.

This is the second year running that the choir has won - thanks to the hard work of a very talented group of singers and to Mr Street, Head of Music.

English Schools Cross Country

Park School travelled to Downside School in Radstock, Somerset to take part in the English Schools Cross Country for the first time on Wednesday 5th October.

Four nervous teams took to the start line amongst a host of other private schools. However, there was no need for any of the runners to feel nervous, as all ran with distinction and should be really proud to be part of team that has a winning mentality.
