GCSE Results 2017

Excited students gathered at the Park School on 24th August at 11.00am to collect their GCSE examination results.   These results are the culmination of five years’ hard work by students with the support of teachers, school staff and their families.

As widely reported, this year has seen the introduction of the new reformed GCSEs in English and Mathematics.  Many newspapers and TV programmes are reporting the increased rigour and challenge of these new GCSE’s.

Gareth Roscoe, Headteacher said “I am delighted with the examination results for Park School.  Students have been richly rewarded for their hard work and effort.  Over 74% of students have achieved a pass in English and again, over 70% of students achieved a pass in Mathematics, with 20% scoring 9,8 or 7 (A*/A in old money).  In Biology, Chemistry and Physics over 30% of students gained A* or A grades, with C or above pass rates above 85%.”

Park boys seemed to buck the national trend with our top 3 performers being male.  Between them Jonas, Adam and Jack achieved 33 A*/A or grade 9s, an A^ (A hat or A**) for GCSE further Maths and also an A at AS level Mathematics. Our girls also didn’t disappoint with Alice, Grace, Esther, Yasmeen, Grace and Olivia all scooping a full compliment of 9,8 & 7s or A*/A grades in every subject they studied.  A total of 67 excellent passes between 6 girls.

The higher grades also featured in many other subjects with over 17% of total GCSE grades being awarded at A*/A or 9,8, or 7.

We are in a fantastic position to start the new term, with results showing significant improvements.   As highlighted by our recent Ofsted inspection “the (staff) training and development at the school is starting to hit home”.  This can be evidenced by our improved outcomes.
